daily article african americans
the treatment of African Americans during the civil war Reconstruction and the civil rights movement are very similar.the over all public thought of white people being better that black people was still very strong.the segregation of the two races also was widely practiced.another thing was the KKK.in civil war Reconstruction they committed gruesome acts known as lynching which they also did in the 1960s and 1970s.but in the 1960s they marched down the streets chanting about white power and protesting rights given to blacks and other colors.but the Klan in the civil war era were much more secretive.not only the KKK committed aggressive acts agiast the blacks but also the law enforcement did as well.they were a lot of times when they would arrested a black man with little to no evidence to crimes they did not commit also when African Americans try to protest a lot of times it ends with the police department beating people and hitting them with the fire hoses.the court system in both eras were also against them as well. when a black man was being prosecuted he had to face an all white jury and judge which almost all the time ruled them guilty.both eras however bad the African Americans were treated were stepping stones which they fought for in order to be considered equal in the united states and from the civil war reconstruction to the civil movement all the way to 2010 i believe they have acomplished there goal
